Oh, nice Z8 Alpina. I think these cars were under appreciated when they first came out. Glad to know that this place has a nice *slowly turns to the other side of the room* WHAT THE F*CK IS THAT?!?!
It’s a... Uh... It’s an SLR McLaren. It’s an SLR McLaren.
IT’S A GOD DAMNED SLR MCLAREN.
So yeah, I have a new dream car, y’all.

I’d take the Z8 over the SLR 10 times out of 10.

Even though the SLR drives way better than the Z8?

That’s an odd BMW

We might have drooled a little on it.

“Why eat or pay rent when you could have this McLaren SLR instead?”

It looks nice in person. They only made it for four years (‘99-’03). I always thought the cab and roofline looked weird, but the pics don't do it justice.

The lighting was horrible in the room, but DAMN is it a pretty car.

Well yeah, in person it might be better. Doesn’t look bad. I’ve never heard of it is all.

I’ve seen a couple of them personally. Only 450 were shipped to the US (out of 555).

While the nose is a little “different”, seeing it in person, it's not so bad.

I’ve still never seen one of these in the flesh

It was our first times as well. I was with my buddy “Al”, who is shopping for a McLaren MP4-12c.

Awesome, you know of my love for those as well.
Quick question, what kind of start up capital should a career adult male entering his 30s have together if he/she wants to start doing some investing?
Also, better to avoid the mutual fund runaround that banks typically give and reach out to a real broker or just go with the “easy” button options that banks give you?
If you would rather communicate mildly more securely hmu rob period saldana (nine) @ the mail of g dot com

I can give this answer publicly, as it’s very general.
If you have more than $100 that is earmarked for the long term (you don’t need it if you get a flat tire), you begin investing. Go to an actual financial advisor. Some banks have those in-branch, and it’s okay to speak to them. The most important thing is for them to figure out your risk tolerance.
After that, if you feel comfortable with the advisor, use them. The fees are usually negligible, really.

I was lucky enough to sit in one at a dealership a few years ago. 10/10, would do dirty things to/with.
Also, the front is so Batmobile to me. Love it.

We were looking at the front end and I said that I’d be scared to get too close to anything, cars, curbs, etc, for fear of damaging the front end.
It's cool as hell, though.

I’d be a nervous wreck (though hopefully not literally) driving this thing for just that reason.

They’re cool, but aren’t they a bit crap? If memory serves they’re all auto and Hammond said the brakes were either on or off, nothing in between

SLR’s have always induced a resounding meh from me. except for the sterling moss edition. thats just cool.

In person, it was quite impressive. The hood is longer than the picture makes it out to be.
Before this moment, it was just a car that Paris Hilton drove for a bit. After, though... DAMN.

Yep without question

alpina z8, based on the bmw z8. you were probably an infant when it was released.
the z8 was part of that “retro” thing that happend around the turn of the century, that brought us cars like new ford thunderbird, the plymouth prowler, the chevy sst (or whatever that funny looking pickup was), and eventually the 2005 mustang.
the z8 used the bmw 508 as its inspiration. and it looks amazing in person. james bond (pierce brosnan bond) had one for one of those forgettable movies.
but the reviews weren’t overly positive, saying it was neither a sports car, nor a GT car, nor a blvd cruiser.

Oh wow that 508 looked pretty. I can see how they tried to make it look like that. ?If it’s not a sportscar, it sure does look like one lol :)

SLR Mclarens are freaky to drive. The brakes really only have an on and off switch.
Even scarier when you’re driving it on coats of tarmac with approx. zero grip.

But DAT HOOD/DOSE DOORS.
So basically, don't drive it in the rain?

That’s a fair assumption. My boss let me take it around with him in it, minimal flogging. He let me ride with maximum flogging. Ein Deutscher lachen mit ein suden Deustchland Akzent ist sehr lustig.
